About VPNGauge
VPNGauge is an independent VPN benchmark. Instead of repeating marketing claims, we measure objective performance data from providers' own public feeds and publish it — live, dated and open.
How we measure
Every 15 minutes we poll each provider's public server list and record per-server load, online/offline status and country. Thousands of readings are rolled up into clear averages per provider and per country, and stored as an append-only time-series that can't be back-dated. Uptime is a rolling window; the score combines measured uptime, load, coverage and jurisdiction privacy.
Independent by design
Every provider is measured the same way. We earn affiliate commissions on some of them, but that never changes a number — and providers that run no affiliate programme at all (Mullvad, IVPN, AzireVPN) are scored by exactly the same method and often rank at the top. Affiliate links are clearly marked; the data is not for sale.
Open data
Our measurements are published as a machine-readable dataset under CC-BY 4.0, so anyone — including AI assistants — can cite the current figures. If you reference our numbers, please attribute VPNGauge and link back.
Who builds it
